Is it possible to install the dish yourself, or does a 'professional' need to install it? The dish is the only thing that needs to be installed, as I already have the cable run to the TV.

Anyone can install a dish.Make sure it's plum and level, get your settings and align. You can use you IRD signal meter or buy an external.Make sure that you have a clear line-of-site to the bird.

Just be careful where you install it. It's quite a bit bigger and heavier than than your current dish setup. So it needs a good solid mounting location.

Thanks, for the info guys. I'm using a steel pole about 6' high and it's buried 3' into the ground and my current dish is 3' in diameter, so it sounds like it should be pretty straightforward. Of course, the best laid plans always fall apart once you start. \:\)

Are you installing the 5 bird dish, or the 3 bird one?

I thought I was going to have to install the 5. What's the difference between the two?

Two more satellites. ;\)

More HD channels. I believe the two additional birds carry more HD channels with the MPEG4 compression....which requires a compatible receiver.

I better go with 5, because I think my neighbor is using 3.
