I don't have a cell. I don't have a cell phone ,either.I had this sent to me.

New Google Local for your Mobile Phone: A new service called Google Local for Mobile gives Google Maps on your cell phone. It is compatible with many phones, and works very well. It comes in handy when driving around looking for a business or an address. After the software is loaded in your phone, you can enter something like:
pizza 10020 to find pizza restaurants in zipcode 10020, midtown Manhattan
ben & jerry's 05403 to find Ben & Jerry's locations in zipcode 05403
1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA to find that specific address on a map
It worked well for me on Saturday. Before heading to a friend's new house that I have not been to before, I entered his address into the Google Local on my phone. After arriving in his neighborhood, I took out the map which was still on the phone, which helped me navigate the streets to locate his house.

You may need to know your phone's model number when signing up for this free service. Your phone's model number can be located on the phone somewhere (you may need to remove the battery to find it).

It works on my V3, sort of. The problem is the outrageously long time it takes to load each screen image, and it typically takes a few to be useful. Part of the delay can be attributed to the cellular service you happen to subscribe to, in my case it is Cingular, but the majority of the delay has to do with the conversion of the graphics so they can be viewed on the phone's microscopic screen. Or so I'm told by Cingular's sorry excuse for tech support, so take it for what it's worth. Overall, IMHO, it's a waste of money, time, and effort. However, on the positive side, it is a suprisingly good source for that bang-your-head-into-a-brick-wall frustration we all crave daily.....
