Beware of places that offer serials. 99.9% of them are infested with viruses.

I use DVD Shrink, it's free and works perfect everytime, so far.

Something else to look into if you're willing to change programs is DVD Decrypter.

Shrink and Decrypter work very nicely together.

I believe you are correct. I've just been using Decrypter since having problems decoding with Shrink when I first started.

The new shrink (3.2) also decrypts.Thats why I was asking the dual layer questions. If you decrypt with decrypter, can you then just burn the file to a d/l disk with Nero?

I BOUGHT X-copy a while back ($80). When I had to reformat, I couldn't re-install it because it said my serial has been used seven times. Some fucker crack MY serial#'s

I don't see why not Mak. There should be no need for Shrink unless you want to reauthor.

No need to re-author if you have 9 gigs of space, unless you just want to get rid of the trailors and stuff.

if you get crc errors in dvd shrink try using a program called dvdfab.. there are different versions of it some freeware, some pay.. the freeware version I have I found the link at www.videohelp.com..

what you do is rip the movie to the hard drive, then burn.. if its too big for a standard dvd then use dvd shrink after ripping to the harddrive then burn..

I've never had a problem with Decryptor though.

I would not use dvd x-copy at all... didn't they get sued by big brother? Also, if it is the same company, I would not use it cause it watermarks the serial number everything it touches...

oh and for those that would like to try dvdfab or another program called freedvd...

http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm

DVDFab Decrypter 2.9.7.0 (01/30/2006)

DVDFab Decrypter is a simple version of DVDFab Express. It copies entire DVD movie to hard disk, and removes all the protections (CSS, RC, RCE, APS, UOPs and Sony ARccOS) while copying.

Free DVD

Free DVD removes several protections from a DVD folder on the hard disk. It removes region code (RC), region code enhancement (RCE), analog copy protection, and user operation prohibitions (UOPs). You can use it to get a free DVD before you burn the DVD folder. It's only 44K.

Well, you know what a watermark is right?

If not, tune to any major tv channel... see that logo in the lower right hand corner, that sorta "fades" into the show... thats a watermark.

What they do, is watermark the burn with the serial number that you purchased to install the software with. Or even the serial number you forged, hack, cracked, etc. etc.

Thats one of the reasons why I wouldn't use it.... the other reason is here ... Since when were they allowed to start selling it again???? be very very careful....

You may also want to check out this web page .... Anyone that is selling this software and claiming its "NEW" etc. etc. It's not... they were shut down in 2004.... Period... they did have some updates to the software after they were shut down, but those updates have stopped as well....

Khandurian I know what a watermark is.. but wanted to know more about how dvdxcopy was using them in their software.. my dad started using there software back around Nov 03 through summer of 04.. I didn't really like the software kinda seemed a little bloated.. plus had that stupid warning that it was a duplicate at the begining

Opps sorry, seems my post didnt save... they have two ways of watermarking your burns... FIRST, you will see, that after youve copied your dvd and play it, a screen will show on your tv stating that this is a copy. That screen itself is watermarked with the serial number of the software you used to do it with. You will not be able to see this water mark without some fancy programs to play frame by frame and even then its almost impossible to see (unless you have the right equipment which the dmca has)...

Also, its said, that every 50th or 60th frame has the same watermark imprinted in them.

Now personally, I have not seen this watermarking, cause I dont have the fancy equipment to decode hidden watermarks. but it did fly around the community that it is there....

Khandurian....

I can't comment on the 50th/50th frame but the warning is very easy to remove, fyi.

DVD decrypter (not DVD fabdecrypter) is now gone, and xcopy won't decrypt the new Sony DVD's.Shrink won't do it either. You have to run thru Fabdecrypt (or equivilent), maybe VobBlanker, then shrink for the Sonys.I couldn't do the new Zorro.

Have you messed with "freeDVD" Dud? I see the download places, but no reviews.

Mak.. I haven't tried it.. but guess I will next time I backup a disc.. I loaded the program just to see how it operated.. tried it on a backup that was already on the HDD and clicked remove RC and VOB Protect.. took about 1/2 a second and said it was done.. but that movie burned fine last week before running the program.. and didn't feel like burning it again.. so don't know exactly what it removed..
