Comp is correct. You will need a mod chip installed in the PS2 you want to play the copy on, or it won't boot up.
I backup my games up onto CD-R or DVD-R depending on what the game requires (size of the game file is what dictates the media).
Use the best media possible, as the cheapy 50 disks for 19 bux tend to cause more problems then they are worth.

I have heard that too, but I have never had a problem with any good brand name disks at all. I have never tried black backs but have extensive experience in shitty cheap disks.
