Here’s a video interview with one of the OWS protestors explaining how the effort of cleaning up the park was “Socialism at its best” What the young man fails to realize is capitalism is what created the cleaning supplies & utensils used to simplify the labor of cleaning the park they trashed.
Now just where did those brooms & cleaning utensils come from? Keebler elves didn’t create them. Those protestors didn’t create them. People from other countries, different religions, different races, who never met one another & probably won’t like one another if they did meet, created those cleaning utensils through the invisible hand of the free market. They came together to sell their labor, that they, themselves, will profit from, to a corporation that will profit from the voluntary sale to the consumer, a.k.a. the protestor.
I can’t think of anyone better to explain the prosperous of the invisible hand of the free market then the greatest economic mind of the 20th century, Dr. Milton Friedman.
Just substitute the broom for a pencil & see how Dr. Friedman simplifies how the invisible hand of the free market brings people together in peace & prosperity.
Also like to add, the young man states that everybody get’s a chance to help clean up the park, but how long does he think that will last when people like him noticed that everyone is not contributing the same effort in labor to maintain the park? The college professors that are there to voice their support are certainly not going to pick up a broom & sweep. That sort of work is beneath them. The union sanitation workers aren’t going to lift a finger, unless it is to point, to help clean if they aren’t receiving overtime pay. It will be at that moment when, as Adam Smith described as “The Division of Labor”, the young man will truly see “Socialism at its best”

Never mind the fact that the park is owned by a Corporation, traded on the NYSE!
Oh, but it's more evil than that, they're... CANADIAN!
They've also been "threatened" by some NYC politicians (DEM's), which is the reason why they had to call off the Friday morning eviction/cleaning they had scheduled.

I'm surprised the unions didn't send any of their "Business Agents" down there demanding to see union membership cards from the protestors that were cleaning the park.
