Okay, I finally reached my first disc where neither DVD Shrink nor DVD Decryptor worked. It's a brand new disc, so I'm guessing there must be some kind of special protection on it. I'm assuming that I'll have to use a newer program to get the disc ripped. What's the latest that will handle the newer protection systems?

If there is a program that can do it, you'll be able to
learn about it here:

I had a disk that DVD Decryptor wouldn't read also. Find a copy of Slysoft's AnyDVD and then use DVD Decryptor to rip it. The combo works very well.

I figured out the problem. I just had to do a little digging on my own. The movie was Talladega Nights, which has Sony's ARccOS protection. Since Decrypter and Shrink are not updated any more, they can't handle it. I found a list of programs that will handle it. Presto! I just needed one more program on my computer...

Ahhhh... yes! Gotta love that one!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ARccOS_Protection

I never paid much attention to the poor attempts at protecting DVDs as there are dozens of programs out there and I'm bound to find something on my hard drive to get past it. ;\)

Glad to hear you found it!

Yeah, I already had 4 programs on my computer for that, but none of them worked. DVDFab Decrypter did work great.

I noticed they have a link to a list of movies protected with it. There were at least three movies on there that I'd already done with Shrink. Must be a different version of it or something.

When all else fails I use RipIt4Me which usually works by using DVD Decrypter & then uses DVD Shrink, but sometimes I have to use DVD Fab

FabDecrypter has been workin' good still. DVD Decrypter took a shit on me last year at some point. Of course Shrink still handles about 95% of what is thrown at it.

I've moved on to AnyDVD and CloneDVD2. A little over a year now. Haven't run into anything that I can remember that it couldn't handle.
